My first.....

$1k day. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Looool.

I know it's really not that big of an accomplishment, it's just something I've been so close to achieving and it feels good to finally get it. This past week has been insane, although I'm not playing bad, I definately feel like I'm on a upswing. I'm also opening up my game preflop, and post flop vs. regs.

Among other firsts, I finally built up the courage to 24 table. After a couple hours I didn't even notice the difference. I just have to be careful when I'm opening/closing new tables because sometimes action freezes and then I start to sit out. I also put in my first 10k hand session today which I've been wanting to do forever. I am trying to get Supernova as quickly as my schedule/lifestyle allows so boosting my avg #/hands to 10k will definitely help that cause. It took about 7 hours which wasn't bad at all considering I started at noon. When I move back home I can really see myself waking up at 9 or 10AM and playing till 4PM. I enjoy that kind of structure which was one of the reasons why I quit playing tournaments. It also helps that I been soul crushing since that always helps motivate the grinder within.

Yesterday I had my usual hockey practice. Our normal gym was booked up so we had to move to another one where the school plays their big games on. It was on some NBA, hardwood, don't get the floors dirty type shit lol. Because it was reading week not everybody showed up but we had enough to spend a half an hour on offense vs. defense drills, and then a mini game for the rest of the time.

I forgot to mention that at the fundraiser two weeks back, one of my team mates brought a lady friend that was very attractive. Before I left to run my cash game she was following me around, telling me to show her around the bar etc. That same lady friend was there at the practice so I felt pressure to perform well on the court. Pun intended Lololol. But see my whole thinking and how I approach things is double sided. On one hand I am weary of these flirtatious women, their signals are misleading and often lead nowhere. I feel I am above that and I can find a respectable women. On the other hand I feel that I am young and, like my postflop game, I should loosen up IRL and stop nut peddling. Sometimes I feel like I am 50 and should be looking into some retirement plans or some shit. Anyhow I jokingly told my friend after practice to tell her to holler at me as I had my head down dragging myself to the dungeon to grind LOL. I'm obv kidding about the dungeon part, kinda.

Sorry for that tangent. Was practice a success? Yes and no. I had some really sick goals but also I been trying to work on my passing skills. This week we tried to focus on a technique called cycling. That's where players pass the ball at the opponents end of the court as they wait for there to be a opening on net. It's purpose is to keep the ball in our possession and run the clock down. For this to work you have to really trust your teammates abilities and I can't say that I totally do just yet. Some of them suck, but most importantly many of them do not have the dedication or desire to win like I do. I just feel like come tournament time, if you don't have the fire inside your going to crumble and shrivel up on the court. I guess we'll have to see. The crumby part of practice was the last 5 minutes. There has been a lot of politicking going on between Kyle (my good friend/team mate) and the captain and coach of the team. In the last 5 minutes, I rammed into Kyle full force and he got injured pretty bad cause it was the third time I did it that practice. In a fit of rage he flipped on the referee because he did not give me a penalty for the other two times. Tempers flared and Kyle said some shit which resulted in both parties storming out of the gym saying they were going to quit the team. Obviously not going to happen but it really just put a damper on the practice as a whole. I got to see Kyle today and he was fine so I was happy about that.

Anyhow tomorrow I'm going to my city's rival University (Ottawa U) to participate in a Psychology study that has to do with elements of decision making in Poker. I believe it's for her dissertation so I'm really excited for it. I'm going to do another 10k hand session when I get back and hopefully continue with the success I'm having. I'm going back home for 4 days for the rest of reading week just to chill. Because of reading week there will be no Wednesday night cash game.

I have also taken the time to post up the new episode of High Stakes Poker Season 6. I hope you all enjoy it and GL at the tables!

Cool

So these past few days have been pretty prosperous. I finally gathered the courage to look at my overall Poker Tracker and starting from the -$300 mark I've turned it around and am at a total of $1.8k profit for 100NL. This made me very happy and although a 60k hand sample (the time from my initial downswing) is no indication as to whether I am playing good or bad, I truly feel that I've made some good adjustments to my game. Hopefully regs fear me a little more which will allow more hands to give me action rather then just Ks+ Lol. One recent thing I've made a part of my game I flatting high 3bettors in position. If they have a high cbet % I can either float them or raise them on the flop. But basically the point is it really puts regs in a tough spot when they have to play a big pot OOP. Especially against such a card shark like myself Lol.

Today I decided that I really want to be able to 24 table so I added another table. 22 tables wasn't actually that difficult, in fact by the end of my session I didn't even notice a difference. So I am going to play like this for another week then add another one on. So on and so fourth. I'm also happy with the speed at which I'm obtaining the stellar rewards. I've unlocked around $400 worth so far which I know is pathetic compared to my high volume colleagues but I am satisfied. Free money is free money right? Once school is finished and I am at home, my plan is to be putting in 40k hands a week. Right now I'm averaging out at about 21-28k hands which isn't too bad imo.

On Wednesday I didn't grind I instead went over to my Moms for dinner. She was going to make some of her special potato pancakes but I instead requested we have tacos. They were obv sick lol. We had a real nice evening. I really love my Mom and sometimes I ignore her cause she bugs me about all the things I neglect to do. Booking appointments, paying bills etc when instead I rather be grinding. But she is filled with such warmth I feel bad and that is one thing I want to change. Whenever I tell her it's fine Mom, you don't need to remind me. She then always says a Mom can't stop being a Mom, and I guess she's right. But yeah after dinner we watched American Idol which was awesome.

Below is a video of Andrew Garcia singing Paula Abdul's "Straight Up". This guy is definitely getting Top 5 at least. If any of you readers likes to do reality show sidebets, holla at me lol.

On Thursday I went into Motion Specialties to get a bunch of things fixed on my chair. Firstly, I need new tires. The ones I had were so old there were holes beginning to form. I then got my footplates readjusted. Footplates are prone to bending and what not because of all the doors/hard objects you run into. New batteries for my chair was ordered, arm rest cushioning replaced, and the operating system on the chairs computer was upgraded (half robot imo). On top of all of that I reprogrammed my speed, torque and a bunch of other things. So yeah you can basically say I'm a new and improved Roddey lolol. Maybe we'll see it translate onto the tables eh :P Lol.

From Thursday night up until now I've been grinding putting in about 7-7.5k hands a day. Looking to crush it again tommorow seeing how it is another day off for the donks to lose stacks. I am now a firm believer that anyone who does not play on the weekend is losing massive EV spots they should be taking if they are a grinding. The level of play is just THAT much worse.

I'm kind of disappointed though cause on Friday I was supposed to have a impromptu hockey practice but I had to cancel it. A friend was supposed to come over that night and my room was still a mess. She ended up bailing which made me very upset because not only do I like chilling with her but I also canceled on my hockey team. I instead invited my Poker student over and spectated his SNGs. After reviewing HHs, he then watched me grind 100NL and kept warning me that I was playing for real money. I lol'd.

Tomorrow I plan on doing another full grind. I also have my hockey practice at 6PM which I am very excited for because of all the upgrades I got on my chair. I should leave my competitors in the dust with the new speed I've acquired :P Lol.

Well

Sorry it's taken so long for me too update this. Either I'd grind and be to tired to think afterward or I would just sit at my computer and veg. I've been pretty busy this past week. Last Wednesday night I helped setup the fundraiser for my hockey team. I was supposed to come back to help run it, but it was the same night I ran my cash game. A good friend was supposed to come and look after the clubs money but he didn't show so I wasn't able to return to the fundraiser. I felt pretty bad but after I explained to them what had happened they understood. Also cleaning the game up for 2 bis helped me feel a bit better about it all lol. But truthfully the fundraiser ended up being a success. We managed to raise about $1100 after everything was said and done.

As for the cash game, that too was a success. I've never seen such a fishy game. There's one guy that comes who will call ANY raise amount pre whether it be $1 or $15 lol. If the game had HUD stats he'd be like a 100/0 lol. I had a interesting hand with him though. The game is 4 handed, blinds 0.25/0.50 and he limps in MP (obv). I have AJ on the CO and pop it to $2. He calls, flop AJ4. He check calls my $3 bet. Turn K he checks I bet 8 and he min raises to $16, I call. At this point I don't know he could have KJ A4 maybe AK maybe Q10. River is scary, Q he checks. I was going to check behind but thought I could get value from any Ax, KQ, KJ, A4 so I bet $10 and he snaps with AK. Kind of a lol hand but this guy is the definition of a calling station so I don't think my bet is particularly bad.

But yeah the game is very juicy and we also found ourselves a dealer which should boost the overall game enjoyment.

On Friday I got together with some of the members from my hockey team and we practiced a bit in the gym. I was pretty exhausted afterward cause we played for a good 4 hours. A major concern of mine right now is our goalie. Her reactions are pretty slow and she isn't the greatest at keeping track of the ball. One of the teammates worked with her for like an hour and it seemed like she's getting the hang of it so we'll see.

In power wheelchair hockey, each player on the team is given a ranking. Someone who has their stick attached to the chair, is a #3. Someone who can hold their stick but doesn't have the strength for whatever reason to hit the ball hard or do lifts/dangles is a #2. And finally someone can hold their stick, pass, shoot with accuracy is a #1. A team can only have one #1 on at all times, two #2's and I believe unlimited #3s. This is to keep all teams balanced and fair. I am the teams #1 meaning I'll be the one doing most of the scoring. In Sundays practice they paired me with the second strongest player on my team, his name is Kyle.

Kyle and I have very similar personalities, we both will do anything to win. The problem is, when we play together we are clashing. For us to truly be a force to be reckoned with he has to understand that I am the #1 of the team and he is the #2. It's not to say he is weak in any way, he actually has way more hockey smarts then myself. It's just his physical limitations holds him back from things I am able to do. For example when the ball went behind the net he'd go and retrieve it when 3 people are on him. He is not able to maneuver the ball like I can so I ended up sitting in front of the net idle for like 2 minutes at a time which was a huge waste. But if I went behind the net to get the ball it would of been out of there within seconds which would result in us getting more shots on net. It makes it even worse that I am pretty good friends with him so it's hard for me to say anything about it. I'm eventually gonna have to though if I want our team to be truly great.

Sundays practice was good otherwise, I only scored two goals but I'd say we only had about half the playing time we usually do so it was about my average. One thing though is my lifts are crazy and I am now able to score without even really being close to the net. One of the players actually recorded parts of the game so I'm going to try to get some of those videos on to here.

Saturday was spent grinding and I ended the day up 4 buyins which was catchup since I dropped 4 buyins on Thursday. Such seesawaments lol. After I was grinding I went over to my sister Mona's house where she made me a lovely dinner main course being chicken and bacon Alfredo. There was also a nice salad on the side with a light dressing. I have to say I was pretty impressed. After dinner was finished I did a light grind playing only $11 double shootouts to the Sunday Million. I got HU on my first table 5 times, and got to the FT only once. It was pretty loltastic. Mona played her regular Tourney schedule and she was actually done relatively quickly. This was partially due to tilting lol. I left from there at around 3AM, got home and passed out in my chair at 6AM.

I then woke up at 9AM Sunday morning and kept telling myself I'd go back to sleep so I could be fully rested for hockey. Fast forward 6 hours I go to sleep from 3:30PM-5:30PM lol. And then off to hockey. I already talked about this weeks practice above so I don't need to go into that.

When I got back from hockey I fired up a 4k hand session and ended up about a buyin. I was originally planning to do the full 7k but decided to take a break midway. After about an hour I just said fuck it and didn't feel like finishing the last 3k off. Although this session was short, I did introduce some new moves. After some further discussion with some fellow grinders, I am starting to see the advantages of flatting 3bets with equitable hands and not always 4betting vs. high 3bettors. So I flatted a couple 3bets and outplayed them post. Unfortunately I can't remember what I was holding to post them here.

Furthermore, aside from my preflop opening range I am fairly certain I have a pretty tight image post flop. I never really get out of line but that is going to start to change.

Here is an example of what I'm going to start to do more vs. regs:

Basically I played it exactly how I would if I had a set. His turn call is pretty terrible. I had pretty neutral feelings toward the river as that would be a good scare card if he was holding Js, Qs, Ks. I think because we've had some history together he felt maybe there was some shenanigans going on but anyhow we'll see how it goes.

But yeah, tommorow I'm going over to my Moms to have dinner and watch American Idol (lol). Wednesday I'm running the game again, and Thursday I'm taking my chair in to get serviced. Need to get them winter tires on, nawimeannn.

Oh yeah on a last note on March 6th I am looking to hold a fundraising Poker tournament for my hockey team. It will be a $60 entry with part of prizepool going to the team. There will also be a good first place prize added to compensate for the % being taken. This tournament will be held right near Algonquin College so it's good for all you Barhaven folks. If your interested in joining or making some type of donation, you know where to contact me. Shouting out a Happy Birthday to my boy SPEKTAH and GL to everyone at the tables!

Okay Okay

Well here is my graph for the last three days.

I guess I can say with some certainty that my epic downswing has stopped. Both today and yesterday I skyrocketed in my first 5k hands. The last 2k hands though have been heart breakers. Oh well at least I am profiting. I am now going to post a series of hands.

Villian was a 5/7 but a 3bet of 7 so I decided to stick it in.

I ran some really good bluffs today as well, but I can't post the HHs because I don't remember the cards I was holding. I've also added a new technique into my arsenal and that's reraising raises when it's apparent they are isolating a limper and reraising raises where the hand includes a button flat. There is so much value in this it's unbelievable. For example MP limps, a LP reg 4xs and button flats I can repop to 16 with, I guess just about atc and they'll fold just about any anything. The button flatter almost always has a pocket pair imo and does not have the odds to call the 3bet, and the original raiser is scared to come over the top because the move looks powerful and also because they don't know what the button will do. The MP limper will fold because their terrible lol. It's just an amazing play I'm going to start doing more often.

I'm actually feeling way more confident in my game. Part of it is probably credited to not getting butt raped every time I play a hand. But also I think I'm adjusting a lot and really trying to think differently. I use to play tournaments and be so sure of every move, and usually be right most of the time. With cash games everything is so intricate, their stats and like trying to wrap everything together is crazy.

So yesterday I did half my grind in the morning. At 6 I went to my hockey practice and really killed it this week. I scored 4 goals, and proudly got my first goal from half court. My stick game is crazy and I'm now able to do some really sick dangles and lifts. My accuracy needs some improving but that will come in time. This week they paired me up with a huge (huge as in large in size) offensive player and we actually worked well together. He'd block the vision of the goalie when I was getting close to the net, and we really just read each other well. This is my first year playing but I think I'm pretty good so far. I'm excited to see how I fair against the teams participating in the summer tournament. It's kind of going to be like calling a huge river bet you perceive as a bluff, I'm either going to be way ahead or way behind lol.

After I came back from practice I had to witness catastrophe when my friend SPEKTAH busted 66th in the Sunday Million Special Edition A9 losing to A2. 500k was first place prize which is almost 300k more then usual. He's been making some pretty deep runs in some serious tournaments for some time and I know hes going to bink one any day now.

But yeah, I think I was asked to sell tickets again tomorrow so I guess that's the plan. On Wednesday the fundraiser is going down and also my regular cash game which I am excited for. Oh also, I haven't shaven for like a week which is pretty bad when your arab lol. I should be getting my new shaver tomorrow. It's gonna be like Edward Scissorhands up in this shit.

Anyhow that's all for now, GL at the tables!

Finally

Well folks it feels like Christmas over here. The day finally arrived where I'd make some gains towards profiting again. Today I put in a 7k hand session and ended up 6 bis. I would attribute it to a couple of things. I have now become a lot more aggressive post flop, always making sure I have control of the hand. I am finding that you can really bluff the regs with a fair amount of ease by just bloating the pot and barreling huge on the river. This was not the case before as I'd just check behind on the flop, flat a turn bet etc etc. Another adjustment I've made is my 3bet size in multiway pots. Before it was way to small and I'd be semi confused with huge hands post flop. But now by juicing the 3bet size up a bit the decisions are pretty clear cut. These tweaks are thanks to some discussion with friend and fellow 100NL reg krissyb24 and also 2+2 pro lyda12345.

I don't think I ran particularly well today - no set over sets, I did get As vs Ks. But I also got coolered a bunch of times. Basically it just seems weekends are way more fishy. Instead of having like 6 regs at the table and 1 fish, it's like 3 or 4 regs at the table and 5 fish. It's pretty much the nuts. So yeah playing on the weekends is mandatory from now on.

I am kinda disappointed with myself in regards to my lack of volume. Today was my first session since Tuesday and although I do have legitimate reasons for not playing aside from a lack of desire, I need to truly realize this is my job, and to earn a income I have to play. I was privileged enough to be able to look at Nicks graph and over 2.5M hands I was able to see more than 1 300k breakeven stretch. 300k breakeven stretch, I haven't even played 300k hands lol. So essentially what I'm getting at is for me to reach my true winrate, I need to start playing more or at least at a consistent rate. I'm really just beating myself up right now, but anyways lol.

This has been a pretty crazy week for me. Wednesday night I hosted the cash game at my University and it's safe to say that it was a success. We had a good turnout and we were even able to open a second table at one point. The game has never been fishier now that all the good players have graduated. Some good friends OTT CANADA and SPEKTAH even rolled through for an hour and that was pretty fun. Our table ran more like the FT of the Sunday 500 for that hour ;). But yeah all in all it was great and I hope it runs as smoothly next week.

A lol story at 11:59PM a security guard came around locking all the doors. She comes in the room where we're playing and says there no Poker on campus. I'm like this isn't Poker we're playing Euchre (lol even though we were using Poker chips and everything). She's like well there's no gaming on campus. I'm like k fine we're just finishing up. She says ok and leaves. Everyone was panicking not knowing whether we should pack up or not, I smelt a bluff so I asked someone to check if she had locked the door. If she locked the door it means she's not coming back because no school police or whatever is that dedicated to come back after doing their primary tasks. If she left it unlocked however I'd suspect she did it as a reminder and she was going to be returning to bust us. So the guy checked the door and it was locked and I ordered to stand ground. Fast forward 15 minutes and we declare victory. I called the bluff and we were obv goot.

Thursday was a pretty meaningless day. I had to do some school things which ultimately tied up my day. Friday was one of longest days in history.

So next Wednesday my hockey team is putting on a fundraiser at our schools on campus bar. We have a band playing there, a raffle and silent auction. I was asked to help sell tickets on Friday. I was up at 9AM to hand in one of the forms for school, and I had planned to go back to sleep especially since I only got 3 hours the night before. But that wasn't going to happen lol. One of my fellow teammates calls me up at 10AM telling me they needed me at the stand right now. All I could think was fml. I literally felt like crap, no shower, my shaver broke so not shaven and running on 3 hours of sleep Lol. I wanted to say no but I knew my team needed my help. The average number of tickets sold per day up until Friday was 6. I on my own sold 50 LOL. $3/ticket that's $150 aka 1.5bis in our game LOL. My team was so happy and I felt like a IRL sicko which isn't a normal feeling as I'm not usually part of IRL LOLOL.

After I was done at the stand I came back to my place and it was 9PM. I told my buddy Adam (fishbones11) and Krissy (krissyb24) that I planned to go to sleep within that hour. sfobv not if Adam had anything to say about it. I ended up staying up till 2:30AM railing his deep run in the Nightly Seventy Grand before eventually falling asleep on Skype lol. I hung up with them and crashed in my bed insta.

But yeah that's pretty much my week in recap. Tomorrow I have my hockey practice at 6 and I plan to put in a solid grind up until then. I wish everyone GL in the Sunday majors hope one of y'all ship it. And if you do, don't forget your buddy Free Advice ;) LOL.

Oh yeah, you know how you know you run good? Tonight I got a $115 transfer out of nowhere, from someone I don't know. Mistyping usernames ftw. Felt like I was playing Monopoly for asec, on some bank error type shit lol. Anyhow guys and gals GL!

Just grinding..

Well this entry probably won't be very long as I just did one yesterday. Today I put in another session at 100NL, dropping a nice 2bis. I'm very proud of myself since dropping only 2 bis after the type of complete and utter bullshit I went through can almost be considered an accomplishment. Let's take a look at some of the lol hands.

Among all this bullshit I am excited for one thing and that is the rebirth of my University cash game. The old club head graduated and I volunteered to take over and run the game. This past week I have hustled hard to find some new players and I fully expect there to be at least 2 full tables to run. We play lower stakes as that is usually the only thing University kids can afford. But yeah the game runs every Wednesday, 0.25/0.50 100 Max no rake and is usually fairly juicy all things considered. If you are in the Ottawa area, comment below if your interested in dropping by.

It's like 4AM right now and I just finished watching my good friend mysterio6044 get butchered on the FT of The Nightly Hundo. He busted 5th I think but lost like 8 allins where he had the opp crushed. It was gross. But yeah I'm off to bed. I won't be grinding tomorrow as I've got a shitload of things I've put off and really need to get to.

So Peace and GL at the tables all!

Long Sigh...

I just came off one of the sickest weekends ever. And not the good type of sick, the type of sick that makes you want to puke everywhere. The type of sick that makes you want to jump off a building. The type of sick that makes you question the reason for living LOL. I've always been one to exaggerate. But yeah, the bad run I was having found it's way into the weekend and I got crushed for another 6 bis bringing the grand total to around 23 buyins. At the end of it I felt blurry eyed. On some hallucinogenic state type shit. I really wasn't sure if I was playing good or not. I just felt like I couldn't win a pot, nothing was holding and I'd run into the nuts everytime I tried to bluff. When I watched my friends who grind, they get set over set, A's vs K's. I wasn't getting any of those setups so in the end I'm just going to attribute most of it to running bad. The massacre did stop today though when I finally turned a $130 profit. Small, but after losing 6bis for like 4 sessions in a row it feels like a million bucks. Like seriously, I grind for 7 hours playing among a field with an average IQ lower then the number of days in the week and I'm losing $600? It's frustrating.

I took Sunday off to rest and because it was also the same day I had my floor hockey. I was looking forward to it even more so then usual because I had so much built up anger to unleash. Before heading off I had visions of just running everyone down and pwning the goalie Lool. The dumb side of me though stayed up till 4AM on Saturday night, passed out in my chair, woke up at 9AM and didn't go back to sleep. When I got to practice, I was trying to be aggressive but it was almost like beating up a pillow. Just draining and pointless Lol. I felt I performed well though, I just know I could of been way more effective if I had more rest.

After practice we had a players meeting. We officially picked out our jerseys and in my opinion they look pretty nice. We also discussed fund raising events since this summer we're going to Ryerson University in Toronto to compete in one of the big tournaments. The cost of entrance and expenses amount to $8000. A sponsorship deal is most likely heading our way but we are still short $4000. I actually plan to host a local Poker tournament that should raise $1500 so we're actually not to far from our goal. I'm just overall excited for it. It really does allow me to get my mind off Poker and let's me get at least a little bit of exercise lol. Gotta shed those pounds nawimeannn Lol.

Last order of business I'd like to give a shoutout to Cody who helped design the bomb new banner. You really touched this blog up nice. Thanks for all your help. And also giving a shoutout to all the 100NL grinders. Except SmbSmbSmb, you can SMD.

An lol to end the entry.....
